Assessment of Student Learning

The Women’s
Studies Program has identified a set of learning outcomes for its
undergraduate curriculum. Among an array of potentially valuable
outcomes, the following three represent especially important areas of
expertise for each student who graduates from the program.

Learning Outcome 1:
Students will demonstrate the ability to conduct interdisciplinary
feminist analysis.

Learning Outcome 2:
Students will examine and critique ideological assumptions underlying
social institutions and systems of representation, including but not
limited to assumptions regarding gender, race, class, nationality,
disability, age, and sexual orientation.

Learning Outcome 3:
Students will demonstrate an understanding of women’s historical and
contemporary agency, and how it has shaped women’s lives in
various geographical settings.
