Text: The Social Psychology of Clothing, Second Edition.

Course Objectives:      This course is an interdisciplinary study of psychological, sociological and economic aspects of clothing. At the end of this course you should:

- understand the relationship of clothing to cultural and economic development.

- recognize that clothing reflects the value, conditions and development of society.

- understand that clothing conveys an impression of an individuals self concept and personality.

- understand the use of clothing as a means of personal artistic expression, perception and experience.

- desire to understand the relationship of clothing to personal comfort and suitability.

- make clothing decisions considering the individuals resources, needs and desires.

- identify value patterns in the acquisition and use of clothing.

- feel a responsibility to utilize resources and social obligation in the goal of being a knowledgeable consumer of clothing.

- keep abreast of constant changes, improvements and revisions in the clothing industry.
