The Casper College/ University of Wyoming IDeA Network for Biomedical Excellence (formerly Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (BRIN)) Undergraduate Fellowship Program is funded by a grant from the University of Wyoming NIH-INBRE program.  The project provides financial support for stipends, equipment, supplies, and travel for students and Casper College (CC) and University of Wyoming/Casper College (UW/CC) faculty engaged in biomedically related research. Students apply to the CC Biology Department that selects fellows based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and potential for future academic and professional success in a biomedical field.  Student applicants choose to work in Casper on a specified project with a CC or UW/CC faculty member, or faculty work with applicants to find suitable summer internships with UW faculty in Laramie.  Opportunities in Casper  provide students with experience in the laboratory working on one of several projects incorporating techniques and concepts commonly used in a variety of biomedical investigations including microbial identification, DNA fingerprinting, PCR, electrophoresis, protein expression, microscopy, data analysis, diagnostic parasitology, and disease ecology/epidemiology.
