Kinesiology and Health Promotion (K&HP)
Program of Studies

Kinesiology and Health students earn a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in (a) kinesiology and health promotion, (b) kinesiology and health promotion-athletic training, or (c) physical education teacher education.

KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAM

Students in the Kinesiology and Health Promotion program (K&HP) can pursue the areas of health promotion, clinical exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, basic science, behavior science, and business management. The K&HP program is an excellent preprofessional program for students seeking to enter the field of medicine, specifically to become a physician, physician assistant, occupational therapist, physical therapist, dentist, optometrist, ophthalmologist, chiropractor, or other related occupation in medicine.

KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH PROMOTION-ATHLETIC TRAINING OPTION

The Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Athletic Training Option (K&HP-AT) functions to prepare students to enter the profession of athletic training. The certified athletic trainer is qualified to provide health care to the physically active in a variety of practice settings. The athletic training program was accredited by CAAHER in April 2005.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM

Students in the Physical Education Teacher Education program (PHET ) are certified to teach physical education K–12 in the public schools of Wyoming. The PHET program is a nationally recognized program for the integration of theory and practice. Placement of PHET program graduates is near 100 percent. Graduates vying for physical and/or health education teaching positions in the Rocky Mountain area frequently receive two or more job offers. The PHET program offers individuals opportunity to combine certifications/endorsements in health education K–12, adapted physical education K–12, and coaching.
