WYOMING PUBLIC SCHOOL
ATHLETIC COACHING PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
2007–2008
Individuals who wish to qualify for a Coaching Permit must complete the following course work to serve as a head or assistant coach in the State of Wyoming. These requirements have been in effect since July, 1992.
1.
STANDARD FIRST AID AND CPR
How can you meet
this standard? Complete one of the
following:
- HLED 1221 (2 credits), Standard First Aid and CPR, offered through the Division of Kinesiology and Health, University of Wyoming.
- Standard First Aid and CPR course offered through Community Red Cross program.
- Standard First Aid and CPR course offered through American Coaching Effectiveness Program (ACEP). For more information, call the Wyoming High School Activities Association ((307) 577-0614).

PREVENTION AND CARE OF ATHLETIC INJURIES
How can you meet
this standard? Complete one of the
following:
- KIN 3050 (2 credits), Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, offered through the Division of Kinesiology and Health, University of Wyoming.
- KIN 3050 (2 credits), Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, offered through the Off-Campus
Credit Course Program, Outreach School ((307) 766-4300).

COACHING IN . . . (specific
sport)
How can you meet
this standard? Complete one of the
following:
- KIN 2080 . . . 2089 (2 credits) series of courses: 2080-Football, 2081-Basketball, 2082-Track and Field, 2083-Swimming, 2084-Wrestling, 2085-Volleyball, 2086-Gymnastics, 2087-Baseball, 2088-Tennis; and 2089, Soccer; offered through the Division of Kinesiology and Health, University of Wyoming.
- Coaching in a specific sport for one season or more. A letter written by your supervising coach (must have a state coaching permit) must accompany the State Application Form for Wyoming Certification. The letter should include the following information: name of coach, sport coached, dates coached, grade and gender of school team coached, role of coach, and success of coach.

FOUNDATIONS OF COACHING
How can you meet
this standard? Complete one of the
following:
- KIN 4090 (3 credits), Foundations of Coaching, offered through the Division of Kinesiology and Health, University of Wyoming.
- KIN 4090 (3 credits), Foundations of Coaching, offered through the Off-Campus Credit Course Program, University of Wyoming ((307) 766-4300).
- KIN 4090 (3 credits), Foundations of Coaching, offered through Correspondence Study Program, University of Wyoming ((307) 766-4048).
- Sport Science Course, offered through American Coaching Effectiveness Program (ACEP). For
