Lights of Laramie Literary Festival to Be Held at UW Art Museum

April 1, 2003 -- The "Lights of Laramie," a literary festival featuring local winners of Wyoming Arts Council awards and fellowships, will be held from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

The festival includes a book fair by Second Story Books, readings of fiction, nonfiction and poetry and panels about issues of interest to writers. The events are free and open to the public on a drop-in, drop-out basis.

The schedule is as follows:

9:30-10 a.m. -- Children's fiction: Janel Hanson, reading Q&A.

10-11 a.m. -- Creative investigations: Julene Bair, Mark Jenkins and Vicki Linder.

11-11:15 a.m. -- Coffee break & book fair by Second Story Books.

11:15 a.m.-noon -- Panel, "New Directions for Western Writing," with Julene Bair, Elizabeth Jennings and Mark Jenkins.

Noon-1 p.m. -- Lunch (for participants) and book fair.

1-2 p.m. -- Poetry by D. Panozzo, C.L. Rawlins and Paisley Rekdal.

2-2:15 p.m. -- Tea break.

2:15-3:15 p.m. -- "New Opportunities for Wyoming Writers," Mary Jane Edwards (Jentel Artists Residency Program), Ann McCutchan, Wendy Bredehoft (art in Wyoming) and Scott Boberg (writers, artists and museums).

3:15-4 p.m. -- New essays by Chavawn Kelley, Ann McCutchan and Geoff O'Gara (UW visiting writer).

4-4:15 p.m. -- Break and book fair.

4:15-5 p.m. -- Speak-out on publishing in the 21st century.

7-8:30 p.m. -- "Return of the Native" fiction and poetry by Maija Devine; "Unveilings," new work by Jack Clinton, Karol Griffin and Jeffe Kennedy.

8:30 p.m. -- Dessert reception and book fair.
