May 30, 1997 Sixteen University of Wyoming students are recipients of scholarships and honors from the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Awarding of scholarships provided through the UW Department of English is based on a letter of application, statement of goals in studying English, letters of recommendation, writing samples, transcript and a rigorous review by the scholarship committee. UW students and their scholarships and awards are:
AURORA, COLO. -- Jennifer Munroe, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
CHEYENNE -- Veronica Bartles, English junior, James F. and Margaret A. Wilson Honoring Mabel Land DeKay Scholarship, given to outstanding junior, senior or graduate students majoring in English; and Thomas Harris, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
EVANSTON -- Scott Mehl, English/mathematics senior, James F. and Margaret A. Wilson Honoring Mabel Land DeKay Scholarship, given to outstanding junior, senior or graduate students majoring in English.
LANDER -- Christy Stillwell, English master's degree candidate, Ruth Hudson Memorial Scholarship, presented to a woman English major whose academic achievement is superior
LARAMIE -- Michael Bradin, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English; Arthur "Chip" Gaudio, English senior, Outstanding Undergraduate English Honors Thesis Award and department recognition award for graduating with honors in English; Heather Hudson, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English; Wendy Matlock, English master's degree candidate, Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award; and Laurie Milford, English master's degree candidate, Clara Frances McIntyre Scholarship, given to a senior woman English major who intends to pursue graduate study at UW, a first year graduate student or a junior English major who has demonstrated unusual proficiency in the field.
LOVELAND, COLO. -- Jeremy D. Schultz, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
SHERIDAN -- Mitchell Craft, English junior, Wilson O. Clough Scholarship, available to a sophomore, junior or senior English major or to a graduate student who will study at UW next year; and Damiana Gibbons, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
PINEDALE -- Brad Hetler, English junior, Wilson O. Clough Scholarship, available to a sophomore, junior or senior English major or to a graduate student who will study at UW next year; and Rebecca Morrow, English/Women's Studies senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
WORLAND -- Alison Bower, English master's degree candidate, Clara Frances McIntyre Scholarship, given to a senior woman English major who intends to pursue graduate study at UW, a first year graduate student or a junior English major who has demonstrated unusual proficiency in the field.
