June 9, 1998 Twelve University of Wyoming students are recipients of scholarships and awards from the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of a letter of application, statement of goals in studying English, letters of recommendation, writing samples, transcript and a rigorous review by the scholarship committee. UW students and their scholarships and awards are:
CASPER -- Erica Fullerton, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English; Kristen Thoen and Kyleen Stevenson, both an English graduate student, both a Clara Frances McIntyre Scholarship; and M. Hilery Walker, English/German sophomore, a Wilson O. Clough Scholarship.
CODY -- Siobhan M. Wilson, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
DOUGLAS -- Valerie Pexton, English senior, the H.G. Merriam Award for a creative project on the Rocky Mountain Region, and a Clara Frances McIntyre Scholarship.
GREEN RIVER -- Joey Crofts, English senior, department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
LARAMIE -- Brad Hetler, English/education senior, and Herve Picherit, English/French sophomore, both a Wilson O. Clough Scholarship.
RANGELY, COLO. -- Heather Stanley, English junior, a Clara Frances McIntyre Scholarship.
SHERIDAN -- Mitchell Craft, English senior, the Outstanding Undergraduate English Honors Thesis Award and department recognition award for graduating with honors in English.
