Jan. 25, 2001 -- A book discussion series featuring works of fiction, poetry, autobiography and humor by gay and lesbian writers, will begin Monday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Public Library. The group, lead by professors in the University of Wyoming Department of English, is scheduled to meet on the first Monday of the month.

Thomas Glave's book "Whose Song and Other Stories" will launch the series. Glave also will read from his work at Second Story Books on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m.

In the following weeks, the series will focus on "Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady" by Florence King, March 5; "Naked" by David Sedaris, April 2; and "Heaven's Coast" and "Atlantis" by Mark Doty, May 7.

The gay/lesbian book discussion group is sponsored by Friends of the Library, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laramie (custodians of the Matthew Shepard Fund), and the UW Department of English.

The books will be loaned to participants. For more information or to sign up for the series, visit the library, or call Jenny Ingram at 721 2580, extension 10, or Debbie Sims, at extension 20.
