UW to Host Reading by Award Winning Poets

March 14, 2002 -- Award-winning poets Katharine Coles and Craig Arnold will read from their works Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in Room 212 of Hoyt Hall. The University of Wyoming Department of English sponsors the readings.

Coles will read from her third collection of poetry, "The Golden Years of the Fourth Dimension," in addition to pieces from her previous collection, "A History of the Garden." Arnold will read from his first anthology, "Shells," the 1998 volume of the "Yale Series of Younger Poets."

Both poets have been awarded National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) fellowships and numerous other honors. Coles, who directs the graduate program in creative writing at the University of Utah, received a PEN Discovery Award and Salt Lake City's Mayor's Award for the Arts. Her stories and poetry have appeared in The New Republic plus numerous reviews and publications.

Arnold was awarded the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholarship, and is a Hodder Fellow in the Humanities at Princeton University. His work also appears in The New Republic and numerous other reviews. He is working on his second book, "Made Flesh."
