Katherine Jensen received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977. She has held a joint appointment in Sociology and Women’s Studies since 1979; directed the Women’s Studies Program from 1979 to 1988. She served as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences 1988 to 991, and as Director of International Studies 1995 to 1998. She has held Fulbright Fellowships to Egypt in 1989 and to Nepal 2002-2004; and has had visiting appointments at the Australian National University(1985), Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs, 1996 to 1998, and Lingnan University (Hong Kong) in 2000.
Her major teaching and research interests include women's work, rural and western women, third world women, and women and education.
