Criteria

We are using the following criteria to determine whether to recommend specific web sites to UW FCS educators via the UW Food and Nutrition web site:

1. Source and purpose:

    a. Who/what is the source? The source is from which of the following categories:
        University/college; government; non-profit organization; or corporation/business.

    b. What are the source's reputation and qualifications in the subject covered?

    c. What is the purpose of the site?

2. Quality of the information:

    a. Accurate?

    b. Current?

    c. Presented in an objective, balanced manner?

    d. Subject covered adequately?

    e. Well-written?

3. Value of the site:

    a. How does the site compare with other sites on the same subject?

    b. Does the site contribute something unique on the subject?

    c. Would the site be useful for UW FCS educators? Why or why not?

4. Technical aspects:

    a. How stable is the connection to the site?

    b. How well is the site maintained?

    c. Does the site tell you when it was last updated?

    d. If there are links to other sites, do they work?

    e. Is it easy to move around and locate information on the site?

    f. Does the site require additional software or hardware?

    g. Do illustrations, video, or audio add value to the site?
