Annals of Wyoming celebrates its 75th volume during 2003. Initially founded as the Quarterly Bulletin in 1923, the name was changed to Annals of Wyoming two years later in 1925. The journal has been the official publication of the Wyoming State Historical Society since 1953. In the spring of 1995, the Wyoming State Historical Society's long-time partnership with the State of Wyoming ended when the state Department of Commerce director Celeste Colgan removed state co-sponsorship of the journal and asked that the Society's executive secretary and records be moved out of the state agency's offices. The Annals briefly was renamed the Wyoming History Journal, until the summer of 1996 when the Society and State renewed the relationship, with the Society offices remaining independent and Annals continuing to be published by the Society, but with financial support from the State. Phil Roberts and Rick Ewig co-edited the Wyoming History Journal. Roberts continued as sole editor until the autumn of 2003 (with two issues during the period edited by Loren Jost, one co-edited by Jost and Tamsen Hert, and one guest-edited by Dr. Antonio Rios-Bustamante). Rick Ewig currently serves as Annals editor. He may be reached at his e-mail address: rewig@uwyo.edu
