CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS: Your text says that class (or race)
awareness changes into class consciousness when people organize
to resist and rebel against privilege. There is little organized
resistance to racism in American since the assassination of Martin
Luther King.
1. Some explain the absence of class, racial and gender conflict by
	saying:
	A. the American system permits peaceful political change.
	B. Others says that there are too many cross-cutting loyalties
to support organized resistance by Afro-Americans,
		by women or by workers.
	C. Conflict theorists say government and private groups work
together to keep workers, women and Afro-Americans
		in 'their' place.
What does Prof. Carr-Hamilton say on each of the points above? Support
your answer with quotes from her speech.
2. Did she make a case that the Bush/Reagan administration helped:
     1. Owners get more work out of workers at lower wages?
     2. Anglos to have a head start over Afro-Americans in school or on the job?
     3. Men to have [or keep] a head start over women?

3. Your paper must be typed and carefully edited and be sure to
Defend your answers from the talk.
