Journal

Written Work:

1) Journal:  For this class, you will submit a journal entry each week for the reading that you do each week; you should also keep a copy.  Journal entries should be E-MAILED to me by 1:00 pm on Wednesday--that is, after you have read the material thoughtfully, but BEFORE you discuss it in class!  In this journal you will reflect on each of the chapters and articles that you read each week.  You should not be taking extensive notes or copying passages.  For some readings, I will post specific questions on the syllabus.   If there are no specific questions, you should follow the reading of every chapter or article with these questions:

a) what was this article/chapter about?

b) what was the author’s main thesis, argument, and/or conclusion?

c) what kinds of evidence did the author use to explain or support that thesis, argument or conclusion?

d) does this article or chapter support or contradict others that you have read? (be specific)

e) what questions or critiques would you raise after reading this?

Journal entries do not need to be long, but you need to write one for each reading that you do.  Journal entries related to the readings to be discussed that day must be submitted to Prof. Kamp by email (mkamp@uwyo.edu) before 1 pm on the day of class (Wednesday).
